The Iranian high school mathematics team secured 12th place at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), hosted this year in Australia, by winning six medals.

The national team of the Islamic Republic of Iran achieved two gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal, solidifying its standing among the world’s best. Out of 110 participating countries, Iran ranked 12th—an impressive leap of seven places compared to last year’s 19th place finish.

This year’s medalists include Mehdi Aghajanlou and Bardia Khosheghbal (gold), Mohammad Sajad Memari, Mohammadreza Attaranzadeh, and Amirhossein Zarei (silver), and Parsia Tajallai (bronze).

Just a few days earlier, the six-member Iranian team also competed in a training camp in China, where it shared second place with Kazakhstan among 32 participating nations.
