The Director of Market Development and International Affairs at the Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO) has announced a series of strategic initiatives aimed at guiding and supporting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in developing their export markets.

According to a report by the Jadeh Makhsous news agency, the director stated in an exclusive interview that SMEs are universally defined by specific criteria, with common indicators including the number of employees and annual financial turnover.

In Iran, there are approximately 3.2 million active economic enterprises. Of this total, nearly 600,000 are classified as small production and workshop units operating under the supervision of various unions and guilds.

The primary focus of ISIPO is to bolster the manufacturing sector, particularly small and medium-sized industries. However, its activities also encompass the development of business clusters and the integration of service and distribution sectors within the broader value chain.

According to Jadeh Makhsous, Ahmad Javanmardi commented on the nation’s export status, noting, ‘Iran’s total exports last year reached $57 billion, with $29 billion of that figure originating from the petrochemical sector.’ This highlights the significant role of other industries in the export landscape.
